I expected I was going to strike out on it and honestly I probably gave more credit for some of the lines in there than I should have, but I saw through to the end.
I read the comic and know that the author takes pleasure in trying to "trigger the right people" which is fine because it takes place in the 2000's era when gay and lesbian shit was less intolerable and tran-trender/nonbinary/pronoun bullshit didn't exist - though the second episode was plenty fine with making the proclamation for "gendering" the robot.
Episode 5 is when I think a lot of people drop it and I don't blame them because it gets unnecessarily overtly gay. Some of it is expected because Wallace is supposed to be the early 2000's gay comic relief in that he turned a chick's boyfriend gay, but it goes too far in this version of the series and starts entering "shoved in the face" territory.
I guess same could be said for the 4th evil ex episode but I feel that's more tame because it is only a few seconds of two girls kissing only to decide they did not like it and go their merry way.
The animation is good, I couldn't find much of anything to shit on, the animation style was loyal to the comic style and not to mention the fight scenes were really good especially when most series nowadays would just be 3D animated instead of drawn. They stuck to items and scenery being close to the 2000's era which is consistent with SP's tendencies to insert easter eggs of other series.
There were a lot of musical tracks that were played with really good timing - songs any rando will recognize when they play and sound effects which trigger nostalgia for 90's and 00's kids.
The references to video games like Sonic of course is prevalent and enjoyable.
I feel it was a good redemption series where the evil exes get closure for what happened in the past and we get insight as to what exactly transpired with Ramona. And it's surprising because you see how broken down some of the characters are when they recall what they went through when Ramona left - Roxy especially breaking down hard.
So it was solid in a lot of ways. But it was sold as something else and they put way too much emphasis on the evil ex turning obsessively gay for Wallace. -

I also saw this and liked the idea of having a custom weeb slide but it doesn't do the whole 'conceal' part any favors.
