A thought I have had over and over for the last six months is "I wish instead of getting a 'job' I could just do work and get paid for it". When I have this thought I consider posting it but I'm afraid people will think it's a joke

I am in vim. I type

:e filename.txt

i then type

:w

This saves, and it saves *to filename.txt*. The act of saying :e changed the "target" of the current buffer.

I have two questions.
- What is the vi vocabulary (ie, what word will the documentation use) for the "target"?
- Is there a way to load the contents of a file into the current buffer, or replace the contents of the current buffer with a file, *without* updating the "target"?

Gonna go explore Akihabara today! I would like to crowdsource the answers to two questions, both of which are unanswerable except to an actual Tokyo resident.

1. I want to find a store named "Beep". My friend went by here a couple weeks ago, and at the address listed by Google Maps found the image from Google Maps (below). But he couldn't find Beep. Does anyone know how to locate the store from this vantage point?

2. Does anyone know where in Tokyo to find still-playable arcade cabs of Salamander, Gradius II, or Gradius III I could pump some quarters in? I found a Salmander cabinet in Osaka but didn't have time to hang around and play it. There's obvs arcades absolutely everywhere but this is a PRETTY specific question…

I found a Cute place… this looks like the entrance to a shopping arcade but I don't think the shopping arcade is there anymore, just the gate

QUEST LOG, CONTINUED

I found an in-box(!) unit at the Super Potato in Ikebukuro. Super Potato has high prices and the box inflates price further, but that's not the problem; the problem is the RF adapter is broken and therefore unit functionality is not needed.

Now, here's the thing: I don't need the RF adapter! It wouldn't work in North America anyway (weird voltage, I need a mod to play it anyway). But if the *store* doesn't have an RF adapter, then they can't test to see if it works at all…
