@samir Sure, people use LEDs in photography. The same kind of luminosity and color rendering with LED tends to be more expensive though. LED bulbs will also run hot, just from the power unit instead of the diode.

@samir This isn't for constant everyday illumination. Color rendering and temperature are key.

I got a used fresnel light for indoor photography. These things are really expensive new. Now I just need a stand because this thing gets very hot.

@dgavin Presenting it as a dichotomy between customization and usability or security is simply disingenious. Nobody is taking away system permission APIs, and the App Store never prevented an ugly or inaccessible app from being published. I don't understand why you need to so vigourously defend the rent-seeking behaviour of a three trillion dollar corporation.

@riotnrrd No, I should not have to sign up for an Apple developer account and pay $99/year to be able to run an app of my choice on my own hardware. Nor should any other company have to pay Apple so that I can run an app I got directly from that company directly on my hardware.

@riotnrrd I'm an iOS user, not an iOS developer. By all means keep downloading apps from the App Store. Nobody is taking that away. But I shouldn't be forced to go through Apple to execute a binary on a machine I paid very good money for.

@davidhmccoy @lisamelton I pay for the hardware and OS when I purchase my device. Developers who don’t want to use the App Store don’t use their distribution channel. The marketing and trust benefits Apple above all.

If #Apple continues on this path I’m going to have to switch back to Android. The idea that they deserve a fee from developers for people simply running programs on their operating system is unhinged. The App Store fee is justified because it’s a distribution channel. But whatever this is, is nonsense.

@brianstorms Can you tell me more? What happens when you try to add images? Which browser and device are you using?
