At least with Android, while apart of Google's ecosystem, much of it is isolated to the device itself. My previous experience with iPhone was that it seemed like everything was trying to coerce me into Apple's hardware ecosystem when owning/using it---if you didn't have a Mac or Apple accessories/peripherals they made it needlessly painful for the user. @thatguyoverthere@shitposter.club

@Moon@shitposter.club I am pretty happy with the camera on my Pixel 7 Pro. Although, I do think Google over-processes some of the images. I am really interested in the new Sony Xperia 1 VI coming out early next year. I've been intrigued by that series of devices for some time now and I think I want to go ahead and pull the trigger on it. One thing I find lacking on almost all devices is legitimate telephoto capabilities. Digital zooming or pixel binning doesn't cut dedicated optics focusing light onto a sensor. @thatguyoverthere@shitposter.club

@Moon@shitposter.club Oh, cool. I don't like iPhones, but it does seem like a good device. I wonder if the camera will be much improved on it. I feel like Apple's mobile device cameras have been lagging behind their competition for some time now---just being "good" but not great by comparison. Which, is a bit odd, considering years ago Apple seemed to pride themselves on objectively having the most exceptional cameras of any mobile devices. There was even a little movement in the photography community around the time the iPhone 5 came out called "iPhoneography" because the iPhone finally reached a point where it could compete with or replace dedicated point-and-shoot cameras.

I have my own server in a colocation center, but if I lived in a place that would facilitate it (i.e., without a god-awful ISP in a country full of god-awful ISPs) I would absolutely host from my home. @coolboymew@shitposter.club

Other than spending most of the day flying back home, I got a good amount of chores done. Caught up on a lot of things. New computer arrives tomorrow morning, and the SSD I'm throwing into it arrived yesterday---picked it up from the mailbox this afternoon. I'm stoked! Should be really fun to play with.

Today is definitely a coffee day. Slept like shit, plus got a phone call at like 0430 or whatever. Crazy dreams, though. My last dream I was running across a city to get to a camera store in order to pick up a repaired camera from the store before they closed. I even destroyed my car in the process, of no fault to my own. It didn't matter, I had to get to the store before closing. Once I arrived there was a queue outside as, after hours, the venue turned into a nightclub.
