@PurpCat Shortly before he fucked off to nostr, I've sent him a patch for a bug I accidentally introduced in my older patch that adds an option to reject gargron spam reports. He acknowledged it but never got around to merge it. Not like it matters anymore since I got the whole MRF upstreamed. -

@lina He built a few prototypes then started rewriting it in other language for whatever reason, refused to fix XSS vulnarabilities because funny, then abandoned it entirely since his iPad baby brain can't handle any long-term commitment. -

With that said, he isn't the one who abandoned his backend in favor of a bridge for an even more half-baked protocol. There's been a shitton of bugfixes and even some security patches in upstream since. -

In terms of forks there was Rebased (dead since the vegan prefers sha256 hashes to human-readable names) and there's Ackoma (federation-breaking trannies), so staying on upstream makes the most sense unless someone figures out how to migrate to Mitra or something without losing keys, posts and followers. -

I don't have preview proxy enabled, just regular mediaproxy, but just running an empty secondary instance with the same secret_key_base and then pointing mediaproxy's subdomain/path to that instance in nginx does the trick. Helps speed things up in setups like mine where I host the instance at home and proxy it to a remote server. -

It happened again, I don't know what exactly causes it or what sysctl values to change, but just adding 40 gigs of zram swap fixes the issue.
