It never really occurred to me to do one of these, because I've been around for a while, first at mastodon.social, and sometime later, here.
I've been around since well before the internet. I cut my teeth on a 300 baud pulse dial modem hanging out of the back of a C64.
The holy grail for me was the appropriate wiring on a cartridge interface to implement an RS232 serial port, where I planned to connect a Hayes 1200 baud smart modem, as soon as I could get one.
I got the Hayes modem with an IMSAI 8080 in a consignment bin at AUSTEX Electronics in San Antonio; as luck would have it, I was soon up to my ears in CP/M computers, each with it's own modem. I was in my early twenties. I lived with my parents. You know the drill.
FASTFORWARD
I'm old, I've done all this shit several times. Am I bitter? HELL NO! I love all this shit still, it still kicks ass, and so do I.
Hide and watch! and hit me up anytime, for whatever.
