It is an endocrine disruptor, effecting hormones. Everything is about dose. More harmful for children and pregnant mothers. Teflon can be produce toxic gas which can kill pet birds.
It also has waste chemicals during production which end up in the water supply.
I think it's called pthalates. There are documentaries about the details.
