He really only has 2 problems to overcome before I think he can start to enjoy the game. First he needs to figure out how to use both sides of a controller at the same time. This is actually something I noticed while playing mario and other nintendo games with him. An example would be jumping up onto a platform where you need to jump while moving forward. I think this is just something that will come with practice.
His other problem in Minecraft is keeping his sight lined up with the horizon. I'll look at his screen and he's staring at the floor or the ceiling. On top of this the ps3 pov switch from first to third person is done by clicking the left stick which he does by accident quite a bit, and I'm not sure he really understands the difference between first and third person view.
I spent the week grinding to try and collect enough resources to make him a maze out of hay in survival mode, but I had no where near enough material by the time he came over so last night I dropped into creative and built him a big maze out of concrete. I used blue concrete for the floor and orange for the walls.
My hope with the maze is to give him an actual target since minecraft's only real goal is don't die, and kind of limit his movement to an area I control. I put a chest with a diamond sword and armor in a cave and routed a maze out to the cave. I think it worked great. It only took about 30-45 minutes to come up with a pretty cool maze, and with a little verbal assistance he managed to find his way through to the chest in about half that. He still had problems but I think having fewer colors and textures on the screen helped him sense which way is up easier, and he was able to navigate without getting stuck in corners. I have more room to expand and add more chests into the same maze, and the map generated a mansion right next to spawn which he wants to explore. Once he has the basics down I can start adding obstacles. I can add traps and even make the whole thing a pvp game to get him used to in game combat. Once he has all that then we can start a new survival game and punch some trees.
Kanye West premiered his highly anticipated “Famous” music video last night on TIDAL and it definitely has people buzzing.
The rapper used the likenesses of several celebrities including Taylor Swift, Donald Trump, Rihanna and Chris Brown, showing them laying naked in bed beside him.
@Hyolobrika@nostradamust it's similar but different. There are a few different ideas being tossed around if I'm not mistaken most of them involve aerosolizing metal particles in the upper atmosphere. Most cloud seeding is lower altitude I believe but it also is aerosolized metal particles.
@Hyolobrika@nostradamust well right now cloud seeding is used around the world to increase rainfall or disperse fog around airports, but there is discussion about whether or not it's a good idea to do it at a coordinated global level to "slow global warming". I don't know if there are any experiments going on around this usage but it wouldn't surprise me if it is done before the public is notified.
I've explored almost the whole world and there don't seem to be any villages. There is one corner of the map that is unexplored. I wish PlayStation worlds were a bit bigger. Pretty smol tbh.
@Hyolobrika@nostradamust I think cloud seeding is now publicly acknowledged and totally cool and normal. It used to be a whacko conspiracy theory.

Disinformation Purveyor :verified_think:So to try and make Minecraft a little easier for the little one and still fun for me I am putting in a little work while he's away building things up so when he gets back on the game I have materials ready for him to build things, and I'm coming up with activities that I can build out. The first one is a straw bale maze which is going to require a ton of wheat, so I set up an automatic harvesting system with water and hoppers to speed it along but I wish I could find a couple villagers to enslave since they'd replant it too.
if you fly many hours and you want to work on something, and you don't want to squint and you don't want others to see what you are working on, then this VR/AR headset makes sense bigly:
I am a guy that does things. I used to run charlestown (dot) social along with a handful of other fedi sites (I've run peertube, pixelfed, mastodon, pleroma, and a few others) but I couldn't really get local adoption to pick up and the server costs were starting to run away so I downsized and Moon invited me over here while I regroup.> You are a manipulative liar and I have seen enough from you to have figured this out at this point. - Jeff Cliff
