Some sort of mess going on on the flank south of Bakhmut. Heavy Ukrainian attack down there, currently hotly contested:
Armored groups from the 3rd Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine went on the attack in the Kleshcheevka area southwest of Artyomovsk.
After the artillery preparation, the UAF threw tanks and infantry fighting vehicles into battle, correcting their attacks from drones.
Under the onslaught of the enemy, one of the Russian units left their positions, "exposing a front almost 2 km wide and 500 meters deep. Well, we blocked it somehow," Prigozhin said.
According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the 3rd assault detachment of PMCs was sent to stop the breakthrough, which stopped the advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is reported that fierce fighting continues in the area, the Russians are returning their positions, squeezing out the enemy.

@Some_German_Guy Probably, yeah. The March offensive became the Spring offensive, became the Summer offensive, and now it's "There's no rush for the summer offensive, and also don't expect it to retake massive territory in one fell swoop."
So far this is the heaviest counterattack the Ukrainian forces have been capable of in the past 6 months, and they couldn't send it against Bakhmut directly because the Russians have turned it and the staging point in Chasov Yar into a killing field.
If the Ukrainians can't even exploit this breakthrough, it doesn't really bode well for any of their grander ambitions, since Russian defenses are far greater on the southern fronts. -

@MechaSilvio @blockbot @Terry Here is the result as of today of the last 4 months of Wagner's advance in Bakhmut. They continue to advance even today. In 5 days, they will be replaced on the front by regular units.
Ukrainian forces launched a massive counterattack a few days ago and it's causing higher than normal casualties for Wagner, but Ukraine continues to lose ground despite that.
There's roughly 2.5 sq km left under Ukrainian control out of 50. Even with Prigozhin 's bitching about artillery cover, nothing about this is "losing", this is literally a textbook case of a unit needing to be rotated out to restore combat capability after a sustained offensive.
Considering Wagner was on the offensive against fortified positions despite being outnumbered at minimum 5 to 1, even their uptick in casualties the past few days has been remarkably low by historical standards. -

🔻In Bakhmut , the assault detachments of PMC "Wagner" took control of the stadium "Metallurg" , and also significantly advanced in the direction of the police station , moving from the southeast and east - the battles are going right on the outskirts of the building.

The situation at the end of April 4, 2023
🔻In Bakhmut, assault detachments of PMC "Wagner" completely liberated the territory of the industrial complex AZOM and the railway station "Bakhmut-1" and other quarters east of Mira Street .
