So yeah when I see software is generally sluggish on our cheap quad core 1+ GHz boards I come to the conclusion we’re doing something wrong as a species. Sure they didn’t play 4k videos back then but after 30 years I’d expect a bit more.

It’s not #Caturday yet in this country but Marx 🐱 is already posing on his favorite :apple_inc: #RetroComputing devices.

@amigalove @scops Had to open it in Pixel Studio to check the palette. 32 colors, a work of art.

Note: probably not the exact palette as it was extracted from the image in the post which was certainly recompressed.

@aral What I find most shocking is the budget for FireFox being in the billions. I understand it’s a huge codebase etc but still.

Maybe the way to go is just to maintain a NoAdsFox fork which is just FireFox with better defaults. Guess it already exists ?

How to chose a browser in 2023:

- Chrome, belongs to the largest advertising company

- Firefox, gets most of its income from making Google (the search engine of the largest advertising company) the default choice

- Safari, could afford to be different but “privacy champion” Apple gets about 15 billion per year for the ad company’s search engine to be the default

@tripleman @aral I think it should be law that all mentions of Google include some note like “Google — which is the world’s largest advertising company and somehow also developed some related software — has released a new public build of Android.”
