Even Krillin rivaled him in power for years.
I never said anything about coolness, you said Vegeta earned his stuff while Goku didn't, which is blatantly false.
Sure, Goku isn't Batman but Vegeta is even further away from any Batman-like archetype, he's the exact opposite.

Hell, you could argue Vegeta was the one with plot armor because Toriyama explicitly changed the story to keep him alive after seeing he was popular, which is why we then had Frieza who's essentially 'even bigger royalty born even more invincible'.
