#BBC's Fergal Keane has spoken to Sharone Lifschitz, the daughter of released hostage Yocheved Lifschitz :
"We still have over 200 people held hostage and we cannot stop until we bring all of them back. It’s wonderful to see my mum. I’m so proud of her. This is on another scale. There is nothing that can prepare you for a massacre with hundreds dead". Sharone has visited her mother in hospital in Israel and says she "seems OK".

French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in #Israel, and will be meeting PM Netanyahu later today.

The purpose of the visit is to show France's solidarity with Israel, assist in the release of #hostages still being held by #Hamas, and to prevent any escalation of the current conflict, his advisers told Reuters.

Macron will also meet Pres Herzog, and centrist leaders Benny Gantz and Yair Lapid from the opposition during his visit.

During any war w #Israel support for #Hamas among Palestinians grows, Khalil Shikaki, dir of the Pal. Center for Policy and Survey Research based in Ramallah, has told the #BBC.
He says support for Hamas is usually much higher in #Gaza, which is "more religious, more Islamist" than in the West Bank, which is comprised of "mostly secular nationalists" and is run by the #Palestinian Authority.

Before the latest conflict, a poll in the West Bank and Gaza Strip showed support for Hamas was at 22%

they show Hamas gunmen shooting civilians and throwing grenades into homes. More than 1400 people were killed in the rampage.

UNRWA has warned of a potential end to its aid work in the Gaza Strip. Juliette Touma tells #BBC that "if we do not get fuel urgently, we will be forced to halt our operations in the Gaza strip as of tomorrow (Wednesday) night".

Oded #Lifschitz - Yocheved's husband - is a journalist who for decades has worked for peace and the rights of #Palestinians, his daughter told #BBC

Oded speaks Arabic and used to work for newspaper Al-Hamishmar, published in #Israel and #Palestinian territories.

More recently, he volunteered for a group that transports sick Palestinians from #Gaza for treatment in Israeli hospitals.

#Israel has claimed #Hamas are stockpiling #fuel in #Gaza for own use although needed by hospitals and civilians.

In posts on social media, the Israeli military published satellite imagery of what it says are 12 Hamas-operated fuel tanks positioned on the border with Egypt.

There's growing concern that #hospitals in Gaza are running out of power.

While some humanitarian aid has been arriving via Egypt, Israel has not allowed any fuel in because it says it will be commandeered by Hamas.

The #Hamas-run ministry of health in #Gaza has issued an update, saying at least 5,791 people have been killed in Gaza since 7 October.

That's an increase of more then 700 on the figure announced yesterday.

#Israel says its air strikes hit more than 400 targets in Gaza in the past day - it says it's targeting Hamas infrastructure.

Her daughter Sharone (translates and) describes a "huge network" of underground tunnels run by #Hamas, which she likens to a "spider's web".

She says her mother's captors took off her watch and jewellery as she was being driven.

When she got off the motorbike, she was told by the people who greeted her that they "believe in the Quran" and therefore would not hurt her.
