In what way did life leave them behind? Lack of a real life social environment (family/church/sports/volunteering etc) is harmful for anyone, but these things exists and guys can join them.

I feel their pain, I could have ended up like them too. But the first steps out they have to take themselves.

Quite similar indeed. Every french president plays Napoleon, but this one does it at elementary school amateur theater level.

I really cannot afford to be cynical (I have a young daughter) but all our politicians seem to be lazy, dumb, arrogant or/and corrupt.
