Sounds like something I will see on cheap Chinese embedded devices in 15-20 years which will work like shit because SoC vendors will still use it but in reality it just means it stuck supporting only outdated hw and APIs.

Broadcom is just bad. Mainline driver doesn't want to work with bcm43456 in AP6256. If I not figure it out, I'll just slap vendor's downstream driver that supposedly works. -
