@matrix We got a near-perfect test case of this yesterday, complete with the guy doubling down and outright admitting he has basically no standards other than "which team (do I think) they're on?"
@berkberkman There are really big differences between Arcane's world and League's world, and for each of the characters. This is both in terms of their visual design, and their backstory.
For example, did you know Ekko's built a time machine? That he can quicksave IRL? It's kinda his thing. Like it's his whole deal. But Netflix insisted that it be a hoverboard instead. How boring and mass marketable.
They took his slugger and gave him a metal pipe. They took his mohawk and gave him dreads. They took his parents and gave him a rat.
And yes, Fortiche did make his original teaser video (pic related). Which is what boggles my mind... they know full well what his correct design is. Netflix shit all over it.
And millions of people watched it and think *that's* Ekko.
If you liked "Ekko", please consider learning about the real deal. I've even compiled it all in one place.
@berkberkman Arcane isn't canon. Multiple Rioters in multiple outlets both before and after it came out, have stated its not canon and is considered alt-universe. It is, and always will be, out-of-scope for my archive.
Arcane is no more canon than PROJECT: or Star Guardian.
Let me be clear, if you see Arcane-anything in that archive, this is a very good sign that my equipment has been compromised.
Maybe them taking a perfectly good character and design and making it more "authentic" (not my word) is why you didn't care for him in Arcane. As I said, give the real thing a try.
You can't try out pic related and pretend you've gotten the Lambo experience. You can't give rage.love or mastodon.art a go and pretend you're seeing the actual fediverse. The same principles apply here.
>Time manipulation in general brings a whole set of problems for writing, Point-restore time manipulation introduces no paradoxes. Sounds like a genuine skill issue.
The truth isn't on Netflix. The truth is worth it.
@essie When Ekko's game came out, the very first thing I did was make sure it ran on a virtual machine with no network.
That virtual machine was snapshotted. No matter what, I know I can always play that game, and all I need is something that can virtualize, or at least emulate, x86_64
My baby boy will not die. He will not be forgotten. He will not fade away when he ceases to be useful for corporate interests.
The "we're going to not peer with Facebook, thus protecting our public statuses from being viewed by members of the public" crowd hasn't learned a *thing* from as:Public, looks like.
I want you to imagine the software having to compare literally every post it handles, in any way, to literally every domain on this list, even though literally zero of them will ever have an ActivityPub endpoint. Madness.
And they'll sit there with a straight face and tell you they're environmentally friendly ;)
SSRIs, when (rarely) appropriate, are a temporary tool. They're WinPE. You should recover your install as soon as possible and get the fuck off of them.
I'm a Linux sysadmin, a Python developer, a comedian, and a FOSS proponent. A clown with a technical background. But above all else, I'm an Ekko one-trick. He means the whole world to me. I'm not ignoring you; Your instance admins probably won't let you talk to me, even if you want to. This is because I don't believe anybody is above criticism. If I don't reply within a day, hit me up on email or from another instance. I shitpost, and I protect Ekko. This is my purpose.
