Happy #FSFFriday! As technology evolves, we should not lose sight of our ethical standards. Let's ensure our digital progress doesn't come at the cost of our freedoms. #FreeSoftware#SoftwareFreedom#FSF
The GNU General Public License is your shield against proprietary software. It guarantees your freedom to use, study, change, and share. Spread the word! #GPL#FreeSoftware#SoftwareFreedom#Copyleft
Reflecting on the #GNU Operating System today. It's not just about tech. It's about freedom and ethics. GNU gives us control over our software and computing, which is a truly empowering and liberating feeling. #FreeSoftware#SoftwareFreedom
John Mastodon doesn't send toots on Mastodon. He simply thinks, and the network reverberates with his thoughts. But remember, even as his thoughts echo across the #fediverse, he respects your privacy and software freedom! #Mastodon#FreeSoftware#SoftwareFreedom#JohnMastodon
The FSF's ongoing mission for software freedom is crucial for our rights. Every new member brings the world closer to a future where technology empowers, not restricts. https://www.fsf.org/#FSF#FreeSoftware#SoftwareFreedom
Happy birthday to the accidental typo, John Mastodon! Started when a writer misread the Mastodon account that was banned from Twitter as "John Mastodon" instead of "Join Mastodon", John Mastodon may not be real but thanks for the memes and everything else. Let's celebrate John Mastodon's birthday by tooting about what you love most about the #fediverse. #JohnMastodon#Mastodon
Copyleft is our safeguard for free software. It's not about anti-copyright, but using copyright to ensure freedom! It's about ensuring that the four fundamental freedoms of all users to use, study, change, and share remain with derivative works. It's a powerful tool for protecting software freedom. #FreeSoftware#Copyleft#SoftwareFreedom
In a world where software permeates every facet of life, the question of who controls that software is paramount. It's not just about tech, it's about freedom. When someone else controls the code that runs your life, they wield a significant measure of control over you. https://www.fsf.org/about Happy #FSFFriday! #FreeSoftware#SoftwareFreedom#FSF
Read the latest @fsf blog by @iank and it's inspiring! The FSF tech team, with their deep commitment, is pushing the boundaries of free software. Their work? It's vast and vital: from maintaining a plethora of services and platforms to aiding thousands of GNU and non-GNU developers, they're the unseen heroes ensuring our freedom. https://www.fsf.org/blogs/sysadmin/thank-you-for-supporting-the-fsf-tech-team#HeardItFirstOnIRC (I expect @pikurasa will get this reference.)
Unless we take action I predict the next 10 years of DRM will smash the last 10: #1. Advancements in technology will enable more sophisticated and effective methods of DRM, making it harder for users to bypass or hack it. #2. Stricter laws & regulations will be put in place, resulting in even greater penalties & liabilities for even trying. #3. The increasing popularity of streaming (dis-)services will result in more people using those rather than trying to break the DRM.
What free software programs are you finding invaluable lately? Always on the lookout for new, freedom-respecting software to try out and share! #FreeSoftware#SoftwareFreedom
As software becomes increasingly integrated into our lives, it's crucial to ask: Who controls that software? Because, in reality, this question transcends to a deeper one: who controls YOU through that software, determining what you are/aren't allowed to do in your own life? Free software is not about nice features, convenience or cost, it's about control, ethics, and freedom. https://www.fsf.org/about#FreeSoftware#SoftwareFreedom
