Yukkuri (iamtakingiteasy@eientei.org)'s status on Tuesday, 05-Sep-2023 15:40:17 JST Yukkuri @nimt @Komnene @maija @lina @meowski @mint @meso It can probably be considered a bug with remote reactions, the problem is, even if it is fixed, unpatched instances would still be unable to see/make use of that reaction. I think it is generally better to maintain all identifiers within ascii url-safe range. -

Yukkuri (iamtakingiteasy@eientei.org)'s status on Tuesday, 05-Sep-2023 01:13:19 JST Yukkuri @menherahair Maybe it is a reasonable approach after all. Right now it is possible to disable access to pleroma fe for anyone on most instances simply by sending a specifically-formed status from any other instance, yet oneliner MR fixing that is hanging without being merged or change-requested for three months now. -
Yukkuri (iamtakingiteasy@eientei.org)'s status on Monday, 04-Sep-2023 17:06:14 JST Yukkuri @lina @cassidyclown @mint Currently pleroma DB is 130 gigs, with daily growth averaging at about 200+ megabytes. The size is also somewhat inflated by FTS indices. Have been running since February of 2021 for ~2+ years now and have survived domain migration. -

> wdym? are you referring to the employers cost for doing accounting?
I mean giving portion of wage in cash, while reporting and paying taxes off much smaller amount. Tax evasion in Russia is employer's responsibility.
> also do they have progressive taxes in russia?
Apparently since 2021 there is, a jump from 13% to 15% for annual incomes over 5M rur (~50k usd). -

> yea, we have that too. i was just asking because you said "you can get away with never filing taxes", as if having the government take your money before you even recieve it was somehow better xd
Marginally so, but it still is. Shifting the accounting and paperwork chores to those who has to do it anyway removes unnecessary concern for the employed specialists, you can think of that as state-mandated accountant function for the employers. Also instead of wages being advertised in relation to taxes, usually it is the end wage that is advertised and taxes are calculated around that amount, making it more of employing tax than an income tax on practical level. The downside however, this can work so well, awareness of tax amounts disappears, as those are never a concern for employees en masse. This can be to a degree negated by employers handing out sizable portion if not most of the wage outside of accounting, but that got a lot less prevalent than it was even ten years ago. -
Yukkuri (iamtakingiteasy@eientei.org)'s status on Sunday, 03-Sep-2023 18:25:14 JST Yukkuri @CZB It would depend on where you are and what you are doing greatly. For example in Russia you can get away without ever filing taxes, as usually paperwork is delegated to the employer and even as individual entrepreneur, so long your annual income does not exceed 60M rur (~600k usd) annually, you have less than 15 employees and your business activities fall into certain categories covered by patent-based tax system, you just pay small fixed amount annually with no reports whatsoever. -
Yukkuri (iamtakingiteasy@eientei.org)'s status on Sunday, 03-Sep-2023 18:25:11 JST Yukkuri @pernia @nimt @CZB @meowski @mint Payroll/income tax is usually entirely on the side of employer, alongside with contributions to mandatory medical insurance and retirement insurance funds. If you have employees, you have to take care of those and file annual income tax reports for your employees too, or delegate it to some bank's wage product, so they would automate it for you, which many if not most companies do.
The only case when you may have to file a report as individual, is when you get some sudden sizable income outside of your employment, most often winning a lottery or selling a property. For the latter there are also tax deductions available when you buy property afterwards. -
