b9AcE (b9ace@todon.eu)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:14:38 JST b9AcE For those wondering what Hætta Isaksen meant by "Greta Thunberg arrested twice",
that's twice just today.
Here's a video of Greta's removal from the TWO Ministries in Oslo today, by cops using force to defend the Supreme Court-declared human rights violations.Cop: Is there anyone that hasn't understood the order?
Everyone speaks Norwegian, nobody needs in another language?
Greta: *raises hand*
Cop: Swedish is fine! :-D OK?Then video of Greta being carried way from the Ministry of Finance, followed by being carried away again but from the Ministry of Environment.
Then an interview after those events.
Greta: I will continue participating.
Reporter: Do you have any plan for how long you will be in Oslo at these demos?
Greta: No.
Reporter: Why is it important to you to continue being here in the coming days?
Greta: As many as are able to should be here.Furthermore, Silje Karine Muotka, the President of the Sámi Parliament of Norway has asked the UN (Human Rights Council Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples) to act in the matter of these ongoing human rights violations.

b9AcE (b9ace@todon.eu)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:14:37 JST b9AcE When Greta arrived to the blockade today there was an initial greeting from Ella Marie Hætta, the main spokesperson for the Sámi activists that shut down the State a while ago, then while Greta deferred initial questions to the Sámi protesters Ella Marie was asked what Greta's presence meant for them to which Ella Marie replied that it means a lot to them that Greta comes and has done so in the past and that "it shows a genuine alliance, plainly, which we value highly".

b9AcE (b9ace@todon.eu)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:14:35 JST b9AcE While I was writing the previous toot, the Prime Minister of Norway for the first time commented the indigenous rights demos and blockades in Oslo.
Said to be going for a previously planned meeting with the Sámi Parliament and reindeer herders and many with interests there. "We want dialogue and contact, that's the path to finding a good solution".Heeey, Mr. PM?
I know where you can find them when you wanna chat. At the doors of your government offices, for almost a week now.
Step down from your ivory tower and meet the people. -
b9AcE (b9ace@todon.eu)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:14:33 JST b9AcE Later Greta too took some questions and burst out laughing when a reporter as part of a question informed Greta that the current generation has been called "Generation Greta".
Greta: :-D :-D That's hilarious. Sorry.
We are many all around earth that have begun to understand the betrayal which is occurring against our generation and older generations that live in the most affected areas. And as this is being revealed it will... ...not be fun for current holders of power, who fight tooth and nail for the current order of things.
Reporter: [something about "the Greta Thunberg Generation" again I can't quite hear]
Greta: What is that generation? :-D
Eehm that's a weird term that I will not use. -
b9AcE (b9ace@todon.eu)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:14:33 JST b9AcE Some events today of Sámi indigenous rights blockades against State of Norway continuing to violate Supreme Court ruling after >500 days.
Greenpeace joined the protests, e.g. by posting a "LAND BACK" banner on the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.
Protesters danced.
State "Security" told police to remove blockades at Ministries of Finance, Environment and Culture, so cops made several arrests bringing e.g. Ella Marie's sister Ayla to cop station.
Ella Marie commented "It's incredibly heavy to see our Sámi sisters and bothers carried out. Many came … from all over Sápmi … for … human rights …. It's difficult to see people feeling forced to this, because none of us want this." then asked if she knew many of the arrested well, "Yes, my little sister is at the police station. … She was perhaps the last evidence I needed to see how obvious this injustice is. She has almost never been political, but because she was born Sámi, she feels she must be here. It's so shameful.", then read SMS from Ayla saying "We're doing fine. Keep going and keep fighting, dear".Oil Minister held a press conference saying "I'm sorry" for the reindeer herders having been in this situation and Govt "will follow the Supreme Court's ruling so that the rights of the reindeer-herding Sámi will be observed".
We'll see. -
b9AcE (b9ace@todon.eu)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:14:31 JST b9AcE Ella Marie Hætta Isaksen commented the statement by Norway's Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Terje Aasland.
"We heard Terje Aasland say sorry, that has not happened previously. […] He's not the right man to reestablish trust between the Sámi and the Norwegian State to get us further in this matter. […] That [the apology] comes now, it's very clear that it is due to this [protest] action and people all over the country and people far from Norway and Sápmi have put pressure on Norway's government […]. To us it is crucial that [the Prime Minister] a̲s̲ Prime Minister must go and apologize for the ongoing human rights violations […] on behalf of the entire government. I'm not at all impressed by what Terje Aasland delivered today". -

b9AcE (b9ace@todon.eu)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:14:29 JST b9AcE It's... and odd way of apologizing for violating human rights for >500 days to first arrest 12 people for protesting the violation so that the apology was made, just before the apology.

b9AcE (b9ace@todon.eu)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:14:28 JST b9AcE Here's a map from a piece (in Sámi language) by Public Service TV of Sweden on how Sámi activists against the State of Norway continuing to violate the law for over two years since the Supreme Court's ruling,
showing how some had to travel all the way from Tromsø (I added that sign+arrow) in Norway-held part of Sápmi to Gárasavvon/Karesuando in the Sweden-held part then all through the Sweden-held part of Sápmi just to get to the capital city of Norway,
but they did it by bus instead of flying because air travel is shit for the environment, 18 hours one direction but "this is important".The second picture is an earlier picture by me showing Sápmi compared to the occupying States.
Aaaactlly, Sápmi could easily be considered much larger, as ancient Sámi culture has been found as far as Gävle which is farther down south than the center point of Sweden, but no writing at the time so it's being ignored. -
b9AcE (b9ace@todon.eu)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:14:27 JST b9AcE Victory!
Sámi indigenous rights protesters in Oslo declare they achieved their demands, after a meeting Prime Minister yesterday evening resulted in the PM this morning explicitly acknowledging that what remains happening at Fosen "is a human rights violation that we can not live with",
so Sámi human rights activists today declared they will hold a united sit-down outside the Royal Palace during the weekly King-in-Council session (Government meets with the King for decisions) as well as a concert and that ends their blockades which have been increasingly shutting down the State over the recent week.Vid 1: Activists after meeting PM yesterday evening, decided to speak before the PM for 1 minute then left. Then PM blah-blahd 8 minutes.
Vid 2: PM this morning saying "it is a human rights violation that we can not live with", as part of long-winded promises of high priority efforts to end those ASAP.
Vid 3: Ella Marie declaring because Govt finally apologized and acknowledged, the work can finally start, so "today we lift the blockades. [...] It has been tough, we've been dispersed at up to 10 Ministries, but today we'll sit together [at Palace] for the first time during our last day of action".
Vid 4: Snippets from final manifestation outside Palace and Parliament. "Show Sámi Spirit!"

b9AcE (b9ace@todon.eu)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:14:24 JST b9AcE The Minister of Blahblah ("oil and energy") of Norway, Terje Aasland, commented the resurgence in protests by stating that it is "out of the question" that the government would follow the Supreme Court's ruling that the wind farm lacks legal permit, is illegal, violates indigenous rights, by demolishing the wind farm.

b9AcE (b9ace@todon.eu)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:14:23 JST b9AcE Norway's Minister of Blah-Blah (Petroleum and Energy) today at parliament declared that the Supreme Court's decision the Fosen wind farm's permits were invalid and human rights violation doesn't mean the human rights violation will end by removing it, because "the Ministry's assessment is there is no legal basis for such an interpretation. Nor does the ruling mean the permits for the wind power plants [in question] have ended. Until new decisions come into place, the wind power plants will be operated in accordance with the original permits. The wind power companies are therefore not doing anything illegal".
When asked by press how long the decisions would take... there was no real answer. As you may recall Prime Minister earlier declared that "it is a human rights violation that we can not live with".
Sámi rights activist Ella Mari Hætta Isaksen and Niillas Beaska, parliamentary leader of the Norwegian Sámi Association in Sámi Parliament of Norway commented "It's unfathomable that the permit is invalid, but the operation is somehow not illegal. There's a logical short circuit".
President of Sámi Parliament of Norway, Silje Karine Muotka, also came to same conclusion that "the Supreme Court has ruled the permit decision is invalid. Thus, the Ministry […] must revoke the permit decision".

b9AcE (b9ace@todon.eu)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:14:22 JST b9AcE The CEO of the "State Power" corporation that is at the core of the law violation by the State of Norway commented to the activists currently blockading the corporation as it has now been two years since the Supreme Court ruled that their wind farm is illegal and violates indigenous rights law, being asked by a reporter
"Will it take another two years to solve?", replied that
"I hope it won't. I hope we can find a combination which will be a good solution for both parties".Imagine if someone was caught burglarizing someone else, killing their cattle and destroying their heritage, then after being caught and ruled against by the top court the police kept helping the culprit continue and the government declared that the illegal acts must continue... and the press interview the violator asking how long they plan to go on. It's so absurd.

b9AcE (b9ace@todon.eu)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:14:21 JST b9AcE It is an unacceptable threat to democracy that minorities (implicitly referring to the indigenous Sámi) have special protections and that international conventions (against crimes against humanity, etc) go before "equality under the law",
declared the party leader of the far-right "Progress Party" of Norway at a party conference this Saturday.Ella Mari Hætta Isaksen today commented that "I think all of political Norway, and we see them doing this too, must strongly distance themselves from the claim that we must withdraw from international conventions. Like, it CAN NOT, heh, be thus that we collectively punish the people and remove our rights due to the State committing human rights violations. It is completely unacceptable and simply irrelevant to this debate".

Showing the culture-essential reindeer at Fosen subjected to the very intense stress by the violating wind farm and the protests in Oslo.

b9AcE (b9ace@todon.eu)'s status on Friday, 13-Oct-2023 19:14:19 JST b9AcE Remember Ella Marie Hætta Isaksen, one of the two main spokespersons for the recent Sámi protests that shut down the State of Norway, ministry by ministry increasing daily until victory at shutting down 10 ministries in total the last day?
Well, Ella Marie was this latest Thursday awarded "The Fritt Ord [=Free Word] Tribute" of the "Fritt Ord Foundation", which "acknowledges remarkable efforts to promote free speech".
In the speech giving thanks in Sámi and Norwegian for the award Ella Marie among much else pointed out that
their protest action "is painful evidence of why we need civil disobedience, now more than ever. [...] The State commits human rights violations against its own people, and violate its own law. In a democracy that is thus deficient, we need some emergency mechanisms. [...]
Whereas I on February 23 turned my cardigan inside out [traditional Sámi act to show rage], I now turn it back in thanks.
I want to thank everyone by giving a promise: I will never surrender.
A thousand thanks and ČSV [Show Sámi Spirit]!"Depicted with Ella Marie is legendary Sámi musician Mari Boine at the event, where Boine performed 3 songs in honor of Ella Marie.
