@foone Oh also my search for a ready-to-buy mechanical keyboard is made into a fool's errand because I very much like and prefer low profile keebs. So that just further underscores that to get EXACTLY what I want I will have to literally make it myself.

I am currently quite contentedly ticking away on a Logi K270 (which has that 3-key rollover issue that you described earlier in this thread, but it's not something I've ever had to worry about so it's not a hard no-sell for me).

I actually switched back to a membrane keyboard because I didn't like the "keyfeel" of the mechanical one that I bought.

But most crucially the mechanical keyboard I bought DOES NOT HAVE A PAUSE/BREAK KEY and does not have any possible way of getting it back, and I use that key as my Discord PTT key because *literally nothing else in the modern day uses it*

The fact that people like @foone is somehow able to just STUMBLE ACROSS completely unprotected personal & private data in carelessly-disposed computers on such a regular basis is exactly the reason why I'm stubborn about not letting any devices I have at home use "the cloud".

Fuck that, I don't trust somebody else's computer security around some gadget designed to a profit margin. If someone's gonna have shit security with excessively-collected data about me, it's going to be me, myself, and I.

@foone I've been kinda doing that with my python dice rolling script, but with the added fun challenge of also being able to provide an optional statistics report including the polynomial generating function that gets all the useful probability stats if --verbose is set.

It's more meant to be a fun trip into the math of dice probability than being a useful dice rolling script, but I get a useful dice rolling script out of it as a bonus so hey presto.

I have multiple friends who've already said hell no to this place after taking one look at it. THEY DID NOT HAVE TO LOOK VERY HARD TO FIND IT AND PEACE OUT.

@MicrobialLife @PNASNews Renewables cannot and will not be able to provide stable baseline power by 2060, even with storage technology. Wind is too inconsistent and solar obviously does not work in the evenings or nights when demand often peaks. Storage densities are too low.

We can't end fossil fuels without simultaneously calling for a serious ramp-up of nuclear in its wake. Nuclear is a safe, stable, reliable source of baseline power with an efficiency that fossils can only dream of having.
