@aral I think it's a bit simpler than that - I went thru there a couple of weeks ago and they we're extremely painful for me too. I'm a white, blue-eyed, Australian who lives in Sweden. Maybe it's an outside the EU think? But honestly, it's the chip not working thing that's sending off alarm bells (if I had to bet).
