@thatguyoverthere@BowsacNoodle My entire life my mom has said p&g are devil worshippers and refuses to buy their products. I don't pay that close of attention. I just buy whatever I can get the best deal on at the time.
The flower beds that are in the worst shape are raised beds. The flowers have been beaten down with rain and most are laying on the ground now. I will need to stake then up if the rain ever stops. It's been a very weird season. It's so chilly still. I am still wearing hoodies and socks. Usually by now I'm barefoot and half naked
@thatguyoverthere It's a muddy soggy mess here. It has been raining since Monday. I think we are at 10 inches now. My beautiful flower bed has been destroyed 😭 I have the sads big time over that
@thatguyoverthere@deprecated_ii Correct, acidic foods are water bathed. Also anything with a vinegar base or if you're using lemon juice. I water bath fresh fruit by adding crushed up vitamin C tablets. Let me know if you can open this link. I have 100 recipes saved here. Not all of them are water bath but I think there's several you'll probably like to try. I have some others I use every year in my recipe box that I could pull out for ya. https://www.pinterest.com/kkrawks/things-from-the-garden/
@thatguyoverthere@deprecated_ii Start w/ water bath canning. super easy. I can give you a million recipes to try and you can do small batches. Once you get the hang of that move into pressure canning. When my tomato crop is too weak for extras I go to the farmers market and ask for a box of #2s. They'll have small imperfections but you can get em cheap. I've had apple trees for years and they never even bloom. I have to go further up the mountain and buy them in the fall.
@thatguyoverthere@deprecated_ii Absolutely. That's what I do as well. I sometimes take ot a step further and pressure can the dry beans and then I just have to reheat 😉
@deprecated_ii I don't wanna be the bearer of bad news but this may not work out.. You have to cook the dry beans before making the baked beans. It takes about 4-6 hours to boil beans that have been soaked overnight. I'm sorry 😞
@thatguyoverthere@Flick I have a few I would be willing to part with but you wouldn't want them for the same reasons I don't. Believe it or not, the best cast iron I have are 3 pans I got in a set from Kmart 20 years ago. They were on sale for $13 for all 3. I find them at flea markets and estate sales. I know you'll cherish dad's pan forever. You'll never find another one that will live up to that one.
@Flick Good! I'm glad you have one for emergencies. I cook primarily on cast iron and have quite the ridiculous collection. My friend buys me a new peice every year for Christmas. It's really getting out of hand
@Flick You should get the Dutch oven. You can use it for much more than just bread. I make soups and stews and desserts. Also if the power goes out or if you camp, you can use it on the fire.
@thatguyoverthere I'm praying for no rain today. We got a down pour yesterday. Took the youngest camping. Got a hike in. Got our tent set up. Went to buy some firewood and before we could walk back to the campsite it freaking downpours. New tent held up though
@thatguyoverthere Well if you watered it will surely rain now. There's 3 things I can do that will ensure rain will follow within hours 1. Mop the floor 2. Wash my car 3. Water the plants
