    @freemo you've got to have a little cultural context. Tattoos don't mean the same thing to them that they do to Americans. To Americans everything is conspicuous consumption thinly veiled in the auspices of individualistic expression. To Japanese and other pacific islanders these things have real meaning. To Japanese specifically, they are an indicator of identity within a caste system, one of belonging to an organized crime caste within their social system.

    You can use RSS and invidious.

    I use an add-on/extension called redirector (and on desktop, a qutebrowser script that I made, it's in my codeberg) that uses regex to reformat URLs, and change all YouTube links to an invidious server, and I use RSS to subscribe to YouTube channels. No account, no ads, none of that horse shit, just a feed for videos I care about watching and auto redirect when I go to watch them.

    @SunMcNukes I wish artix had a headless installer so I could custom out my interface like I like to do. Every time I've tried installing something with a DE and decrufting it I run into trouble. I just want arch without systems dammit

    @cjd man, I agree on the premise, I don't like school and it is total control, but kids went to school in the 60s and 70s and weren't all fat. I wouldn't blame obesity on school. But yes, school is not a good place for children to learn.

    There are some Monero dudes on there. They seem to like it.

    Nostr does not use a blockchain. But the maintainer and lead Dev is a bitcoin core contributor and as a result, has shoehorned incentive based relaying into the protocol in the form of Lightning payments for relay services. The good news is they're entirely optional and you can relay for free if you want.

    It's a pretty cool protocol. it is *not* a social network, but that seems to be the popular use case for it right now. It is an uncensorable, key addressed (mostly) generic message transport protocol.

    @Moon I followed that guy for a while. He's smarter in the mirror than in person and loves to hear himself talk. Guy runs his mouth way too much and takes himself way too seriously. He seems to think the goal of socializing is to expand his influence, I don't like people with that sort of mentality.
