On the first day of the academic year we ask our master students to tell about why they chose to study Science Communication and Society. It is always nice to hear their reasons.

This year amongst many others: “communication during covid was so terrible and I felt scientists should do better”, or “I want to protect endangered species”, or “I got so much from society and would like to give back” or “whilst mushroom collecting I met so many people without academic training who know A LOT and I want to bridge the gap between them and science” or “I saw the theatre show of Lieven Scheire and wanted to learn how to do that” 🥰
