@aral I'm always rethinking of this example: a friend who developed a micro kernel back in the days and published it under a free software license saw his work being incorporated in defense tech, think missiles.. Not exactly what you planned for when writing that code..

Clearly, this is privilege talking. Technology is not only the result of social and political circumstances, it also creates and reinforces these circumstances.
