In my opinion, it's about raising Durov as a false savior and making big tech (lite) organizations out to be heroes.
With all the scams on telegram I would say pushing people there is like leading lambs to a slaughter.

People are rushing in to nit-pick that telegram isn't a secure messager (it isn't) and that it's filled with spam/junk (it is) but there's an important truth to what you're saying.

E2EE isn't an end to itself, it's a means to privacy outside third-party control. The EU (and many other governments) have made it explicitly clear they view any and all communications they can't monitor control or shut down are a problem.

You don't have to like Telegram or durov to see this as a troubling sign within a broader pattern that is only hard to see when ones wishes not to see.

I saw someone on funnyjunk post these motivational series of images. I felt they deserved a voiceover.
I left the words as-is. I would have phrased things differently if I wrote it myself.

You know what would be rad? An exchange program for people without their sleep in order.
You swap insomniacs to opposite time-zones so that once they ruin their sleep again you send them back and they're not "jet-lagged" but normal again!
I see no problems with this strategy.

This is somewhat of a vindication of all those who argued in the past such resources should be as ideologically neutral as possible.
It splits the support for building common goods and instead pits people into tearing it down.

Every time somebody sees an bunny they have to tag me, like a joyful compulsion to get my attention and to show me the bunnies, I have gigabytes of bunnies, you probably should tag me to show me more pictures of bunnies! I'm very well aware there are pictures of bunnies, I see lots of bunnies, I see them repeatedly every time I open my bunny folder. I am very, very aware on the existence of bunnies. You're all my collectors, I could be sleeping peacefully and someone would shake me awake, "HEY I SAW A BUNNY!" Yes because bunnies exist, they bring me joy. Every single day with this. Don't forget to @ me with bunnies, I love this place I don't even know how to express it.
