@mei @gorplop actually it does occur to me that things could break if the program which is being reloaded is like. lspci or dd to a block device or something. freebsd doesnt fully emulate /sys and /dev has some differences to work around

@zenith sent a screenshot in the fantasy architecture discord server of a reddit post asking for an 'arm64 iso' of windows xp to run on m1 and we all had a good laugh and then like two hours later i realized. well. it runs on ia64 doesnt it

@domi honestly i was just imagining loading linux with the init set to the game binary. things like the rsp would be accessed via /dev/mem on a separate thread

@domi @multisn8 honestly i dont even think freebsd is that source or binary incompatible with most linux distros its just no one uses it so all linux code has the wrong linker options or missing includes or whatever when you build it on an operating system that is normal about that stuff

someone really needs to make an adapter that lets you put non x86 processors in a socket 7 motherboard

this is probably possible on a modified amiga cd32. im not sure if it would need an mmu for proper emulation or if all the i/o just happens in rom but on the sega cd paging is just not an option at all

its like bleemcast but for cd-i games
