I think what people also fail to take into account in the discussion of Star Wars vs Warhammer 40k is. First those ships are just giant monasteries and cathedrals. And even if Star Wars universe has safer FTL travel, they aren't immune to chaos. The chaos would take root in these worlds easily. And they oversell the power of force users, many are just base level psykers.
