This made me curious if thereโs any difference between the generic and name brand adapters so I opened some. The generic one is a bit more cost reduced (less plastic, less metal) but seems to have the same rough idea behind the design. Generic on left, Sandisk on right
Today I built up a Greaseweazle (https://github.com/keirf/greaseweazle) box with a HD 5.25"/3.5" combo drive and DD 5.25" drive so I can write just about any floppy that I care about. It takes 12V from a barrel jack and uses a little buck converter to get the 5V.
I needed to create a breakout board for debugging and doing bus captures on the Sharp #X68000. It has to stick out of the card slot so it's longer than a normal board. Hence, longcat
@foone at the university I worked at in the early 2000s, employees would chat with each other with WinPopup over the windows network on campus. It was pretty neat
In my abundant free time, I want to make a phone app optimized for taking photo or video of CRTs, with quick access to shutter speeds of 1/25, 1/29.97, 1/30, 1/50, 1/59.94, and 1/60 of a second. I've tried so many camera apps with manual settings and each one has annoyances or too many settings.
@foone and @h0ffman get shoutouts for inspiration in the article. And big thanks to @ishotjr for editing and sheperding my way, and @inversephase for making the all important social connection. ๐ #PicoGUS#demoscene
Some people have wondered why the #PicoGUS is as tall as it is and hereโs why: to fit big boi wavetable cards like this one. Itโs also why there are holes for mounting standoffs.
Coming soon to #PicoGUS: Sound Blaster support. Massive thanks to yyzkevin for writing and contributing the SB DSP and mixing code! Now you'll be able to play Doom with FM synth + SB sound effects, or play earlier SB games that don't support the GUS.
