@tanja84dk Hi! We wouldn't offer anything unstable on our main download page. We understand that "early adopter" may be confusing though, so we'll work on changing the text. Both branches are stable and tested (every major release goes through several alpha, beta and release candidate steps), but of course LibreOffice 7.6 has been available for longer. Let's ask our marketing community how we can improve the wording on the page! Thanks 😊

LibreOffice (libreoffice@fosstodon.org)'s status on Tuesday, 28-May-2024 16:17:23 JST LibreOffice @tanja84dk Hi! Regarding your second question – not sure what you mean. LibreOffice never prompts you to update to an unstable version. We currently maintain two stable branches, LibreOffice 24.2 and LibreOffice 7.6. The latter is coming to end-of-life soon, so we're encouraging users to move to the newer stable branch. But both are stable (they only receive bug and security fixes – no new features in the middle of a branch).

LibreOffice (libreoffice@fosstodon.org)'s status on Monday, 20-May-2024 14:10:38 JST LibreOffice @schnedan Because nobody has stepped up to implement it. You asked for the "serious" answer and that's it. LibreOffice is a volunteer-driven project with very limited resources, so if you want an option for that, you can make it happen – join the community of volunteers that make LibreOffice, or fund a developer to implement it: https://www.documentfoundation.org/certified-developers/

LibreOffice (libreoffice@fosstodon.org)'s status on Wednesday, 15-May-2024 21:41:17 JST LibreOffice @jamescrakemerani @levi Yes, there is always discussion in the @libodesign community about what to make default in new major releases, what to make default in only new installations, and so forth. It can be quite tough to balance the expectations of long-term users and brand new users. But we try, and value the feedback! 😊
