@lain as i understand him, he doesn't believe in "full communism", it's just a matter of degree.

there seems to be a fair case that a free society would have more of that. i think states probably have a tendency to push such interactions into the cash nexus, to tax them and to have them "contribute" to GDP and such metrics.

then again, the taxation itself is a disincentive for that…

@lain i agree on the voucher part, i'd just to add hat it doesn't mean that everything should have a price.

David Graeber's example is asking people for the way in unfamiliar places. some people have higher needs to know, some people may be able to explain it better. but it makes no sense for people to grab their wallets and hold an auction. just quickly helping out is more efficient. "everyday communism" as he calls it.

@transform "need" is a strong word. i think it's useful and the proposed "replacements" seem pretty dubious to me. but what makes it anarchist is that people have the choice to agree on whatever social/economic mechanisms they prefer.

i prefer the term "units of exchange" though. accounting smells like suits 😉.

@tipjip eigentum ist dem staat wumpe, sobald es seinen interessen im weg steht. sonst gäbe es ja keine steuern. diesmal ist die einteignung aber offenbar nicht im interesse des staats…

wobei die wohnungen verstaatlichen auch ne ganz schön erbärmliche "lösung" ist. den mietern kann man ihre wohnung offenbar nicht überlassen…

@joesabin @irina @wellingtonrock i did not mean or attempt to delegitimate their income. i was just saying that financial incentives are there and that itself is not the problem.

i guess the long training combined with long hours could be an indication that there is a barrier-to-entry problem, but that doesn't mean doctors want that or are to blame for it…

@irina @wellingtonrock according to a quick web search, the average salary of a doctor in the UK is 4400·£ which is roughly 10 times what i get as an unemployed person in germany.

so for me they do seem rather rich to me, but regardless, i say that it is decent evidence that there would be quite a bit less healthcare happening if people if noone made money with it…
