@kagan @aral I think y'all may be underestimating what authors are responsible for in the publishing process!

@kagan @aral This is a development editor, not a copy editor. I'm happy to make a copy editor's life easier by being as close to the house manuscript format as possible.

@kagan One of the notes back from my editor was to delete the spaces from before and after the em-dashes. Thank goodness for find and replace. I'm trying to retrain my muscle memory, like I did when I stopped using two spaces after periods. (But of course when I turned in my MFA thesis, the committee made me add the spaces.)

@kagan No spaces around em-dashes, but yes spaces around each period of an ellipses! This is an editor contracted with the book packager I’m working for, so not a publisher. Fiction mostly uses the Chicago Manual of Style, I believe. I’d have to look up what’s standard for that.
