@Cough @BattleDwarfGimli Nationalized health care does well for primary care and basic health issues, especially preventative medicine. You need a homogeneous populace in a high-trust society to make it really work.
It's not good for elective quality of life surgeries (like joint replacements or spinal fusions) and trauma care is hit or miss (advanced imaging is not as easily available as it is in the US)
This is not an endorsement of the abortion that is the US 'sickcare' system

Fortunately the Japanese have real medicine - not the endless pill poisons of American drug-dealers in lab coats.

But there's the scary socialized healthcare here. Well kinda, system is a bit different than in the west. Focus on general care. Taxes for unhealthy lifestyles (fatties). Etc
