     No it isn't
     There's a lot of manga, aka nip comics, that are not slop and not even media, as far as I can see them, their genuine literary works the same as the Epic of Gilgamesh and The Odyssey, Iliad and many many others.
     What is there in Superman that ever was like our lives?
     What kind of trials and universal human experience can you have with an alien whose home exploded and he grew up with values of a foreign species where he is supremely more powerful than them?
     
     How is that a work that uplifts the human experience and spirit?
