   @BlinkRape Shit like SMB/FTP/SFTP/WebDAV shares is easier done in userspace, and adding support for it in DE's file manager yields better desktop integration, if I had to guess.

     Why does a desktop environment need to handle file I/O in the first place, shouldn't that be an OS level thing
