If you're referring to the site's place online, it existed far before KF. PoE, SomethingAwful, random livejournals and blogs dedicated to shit, ED, and many more are proof that people want to see a good dumpster fire.

Of course even people in that sphere are also burnt out on this culture war shit, it's why some of the most popular threads on the site lately are on a writer who is mocked for wanting to fight everyone ever online, and a crackhead gambler who does nothing but stream himself doing drugs and gambling and raging. It's the same reason why IP2 is so big, people want to see a shitshow.
