I think there's still problems with Artists and AI not augmenting each other in a harmonic balance. AI misunderstood the Artist and fails to provide proper negative feedback loop into it's system. Seems like one is fighting against the tool constantly AI and Artist have skill issue. -

Of course, but those are its weaknesses. "Perfection" is the weakness of these AIs when in the real world imperfection is the mark of human creativity. Make a perfect chess AI and congrats children and newbies will never play against it because it demands too much. Make a perfect art AI and people complain it isn't creative enough. The systems are inherently inflexible because the majority demand them that way. Yet we don't demand these things from humans designed creations.
There are not many games that are designed in such a way that you must play them absolutely perfectly the first time, the ones that do exist aren't popular. The art we consider "SOVL" are the ones filled with imperfections or unique perspectives and proportions. AI will never go beyond human creativity when it can't make its own inhuman mistakes. :back_from_gab: -

It's a pain to get the AI to do exactly what one wants and you have to let it take it's course then touch up on the messy parts. It requires some art skill because inpainting doesn't seem to do borders between objects well and so on.
Haven't been in the scene for over 6 months so I don't know if they fixed it or found a different workflow than prompting. -

There was a big incident on twitter where some art of Toki from blue archive in an onsen (if I remember correctly) got a lot of likes and it was AI generated. Some people were complaining that they were fooled and others complaining that it was so good it was comparable to other good artists.
A number of things:
Is it really an issue if a robot draws yet another good art of a girl in an onsen when multiple good artists have also drawn similar girls in onsens? The idea isn't original yet it's an issue if the AI can reproduce it
Next, if the AI can already fool people and get more likes than most artists hasn't it already surpassed humans? At least the majority of them?
There a "creativity cope" when it comes to AI as some sort of last thread of superiority we have over the machine. People are burying the lede though. Because of the nature of AI someone like me can massively create a bunch of things through AI and I can curate what I think is good and what isn't. Or I can make something that I specifically want that I have greater control over. While it would be good for the AI to make something novel that nobody has never seen before it doesn't need that, there are plenty of people that don't have artistic skills that can give that creativity to AI. That person who doesn't know how to draw or doesn't know how to write will have a different perspective than one that does and that's a more dangerous threat to already existing artists. :backfromgab:
