@nixCraft It seema the laptop I am looking at is slightly different. I am looking at a A532 (YLKW) Theirs is a AH532 (YLKV). This laptop has a bios revision of 1.10.
Pointing out the CMOS reset is below the memory was a huge help. At least the system boots again. In stead of showing the list as in their article, the laptop boots directly into the operating system.
I suppose this is because UEFI auto recovery and a /EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI file present on the EFI partition on the hard disk.
