Played through Castlevania Portrait of Ruin recently, and it gave me a sad thought about the series. I started somewhat wishing there'd be a full on Castlevania gacha game. The entire franchise has reached utter stagnation since a proper new game hasn't come out since 2014, and it's hard to trust what Konami would do with it at this rate. Just throwing it to an asian gacha studio to possibly bring back artists and have tons of new designs would be a blessing to the series, especially compared to some shitty netflix fake "anime"
It also helps that there's at least 20 games worth of characters to chose from, and a lot could be done with all of them, like Maria and Carrie

@Iffine >Please turn my video game series into gachaslop
:ogey:

@Iffine @supersid333 >They took the gacha out of the gacha
Holy based. I mean it's probably still just a cheap ass mobile game I imagine but at least there's no gacha cancer.

@supersid333 @locagainstwall Figured someone would bring it up. That's not a gacha, at least not anymore. Apple bought exclusive rights to it on Apple Arcade subscription service, so it's now just a basic Castlevania mobile game that hasn't done much except reuse assets. Originally, during the Canada only beta test, it was going to be a gacha, but that was shut down within a year and took many features like the gacha and multiplayer with it. I'd honestly not mind checking the game out if it weren't for the damn Apple exclusivity deal

@Iffine @locagainstwall Actually, there's apparently been an IOS exclusive Castlevania gacha for years now. Grimoire of Souls.

@Iffine @locagainstwall Bad gachas are pretty much a drop in the well anyways. How many of you remember the Blazblue one for example?
-
@locagainstwall That's just how bad it is man. You've probably seen what happens to character art and number of doujins at this point when a gacha does well, just look at pokemon masters fucking skyrocketing the amount of art for even basic trainers.
It's the second best outcome to Konami just leaving the franchise for dead and never touching it again, and we all know how Konami feels about leaving cash cows be

@Iffine @supersid333 I'd rather have them make a real game instead of gachas or slot machines. But then again it is current year, so that's probably not a good idea either. Best course of action for the series is to just let it die, no need to defile its corpse. In short, Total Gacha Death, Total Netflix Death, Total Konami Death

@locagainstwall @supersid333 I don't know man, I'd rather have them keep the gacha elements in with the possibility of catching on with the Japanese, than what they did of sucking Apple's cock and making some basic touchups and then leaving it be, and then choosing look into production of more pachinko machines and slot machines for the series
