Moon (moon@shitposter.club)'s status on Saturday, 28-Jan-2023 12:05:46 JST Moon In the past there have been multiple German academics that have spent a lot of energy writing about the pervasive influence of the history of the cowboy on American society, cultural attitudes and so on. Writing about how the USA "is" that was absurd to people born and residing in the USA. Then you find out that a lot of Germans are super fascinated with cowboys and you realize all that writing is more about Germany than America.
It is useful sometimes to take a step back and question your perception of a place you've never even been to.
This is advice from myself, but also for myself. I definitely need to apply this more often to how I view China.-

We cant trust its validity

moomin (moomin@poa.st)'s status on Saturday, 28-Jan-2023 12:05:43 JST moomin @Moon @nobullyplz native americans are immigrants from south america, who earlier came by canoes from the pacific islands (Mu). Native Americans will tell you this themselves if you ask them. They admit there were White people living in North America long ago when they first moved to North America. Europeans are indigenous to North America, and the whole Northern Hemisphere, we just forgot after the post Ice Age floods. -
Moon (moon@shitposter.club)'s status on Saturday, 28-Jan-2023 12:05:43 JST Moon @moomin @nobullyplz I believe that some polynesians made it to south america but there were already indians there.
migration over the siberian strait is hard to accurately account for because we can only document what we can find, so there's a bias toward inland migrations south and nothing about shoreline migrations because if there were any settlements along the shore 14,000 years ago, they're all underwater now. so like, migration in the americas is looking for your keys under the streetlight because that's where the light is, not where the keys might actually be.
i put absolutely zero stock into claims that ancient picts or lost hebrew tribes made it to the americas before indians.
there are multiple weird things about south america even past the possible polynesian contact, not enough time to cover them all. -

Moon (moon@shitposter.club)'s status on Saturday, 28-Jan-2023 12:05:44 JST Moon @moomin @nobullyplz i don't believe it's true but i also don't believe the current native americans were the first people here either so i have a kind of heterodox idea of new world migration anyway -
Moon (moon@shitposter.club)'s status on Saturday, 28-Jan-2023 12:05:45 JST Moon @nobullyplz american academics have written about germans' obsession with cowboys. what if those studies are more about america ('s view of germans) than about germany? #stalemate -

Moon (moon@shitposter.club)'s status on Sunday, 29-Jan-2023 07:28:49 JST Moon @charliebrownau @moomin @nobullyplz some of these theories are based around an idea that the discovered kennewick man skeleton morphologically didn't look like current native americans but more like europeans. a couple problems: 1. the guy doing the forensic skull bust model sucked 2. proto-indians didn't totally look like current indians
3. when indians finally allowed dna testing of the skeleton it's closest to modern indian tribes and not polynesians or europeans. a lot of stuff was written before all this information came out and basically settled it. -
