cool_boy_mew (coolboymew@shitposter.club)'s status on Tuesday, 19-Dec-2023 01:11:29 JST cool_boy_mew @lanodan @meso @skylar I have no idea about any of that, basically I try to run the usual python commands and I get this
I tried to do their thing but it was utter nonsense that didn't work
Ultimately I had to do something with "--break-system-packages" -

thegreatape (thegreatape@thechimp.zone)'s status on Tuesday, 19-Dec-2023 01:21:15 JST thegreatape I ran into this issue trying to get qtile to work on a debian 12 installation. They really cockblock you and want to make SURE you don't install anything via pip globally. I hardly ever do or have a reason to, but literally blocking you from doing it by default is a bit much.
I believe all you have to do is:
sudo rm /usr/lib/python3.11/EXTERNALLY-MANAGED
Which I got from this link
https://github.com/JerrySM64/Qtile-Debian/blob/main/qtile-setup.sh

Thanks
It's pretty annoying because I had to compile it manually instead, which is longer, and then use "--break-system-packages" when installing other python stuff IIRC -
