The automaker's decision to ditch phone casting interfaces remains controversial.
@arstechnica Well, there's one less manufacturer site to look at when I'm ready to buy my next new car in a few years (not that GM was very high on the list, but I'd at least do my due diligence). The only stability they're addressing is that of their data farming revenue streams. The last thing I want when buying a new car, where I can't seem to avoid all this unnecessary tech, is a clunky software system implemented by someone new to the scene.
@arstechnica I will just use Bluetooth then. I only need an audio connection.
Would I like Carplay? Sure. Not if car manufacturers are going to be dicks about it however.
If car manufacturers think they are getting subscription money from this, they have another think coming. Might have to gut and buy third part Infotainment console.
@arstechnica why even make ridiculous statements like this. I hope ford does well, their strategy of leveraging carplay and aa is a breath of fresh air.
