@Griffith @synapsid @PraxisOfEvil tell me about it 6 figure salaries start at $140k these days
it's been 'common knowledge' for years that you gotta switch jobs every 2 or 3 years to keep getting paid according to your market worth, so much institutional and tribal knowledge constantly getting lost in the churn. but we are more and more in a labor market that is integrated with that of the third world, with third world wages and standards of living. this has been cooking for decades

@Paultron @synapsid @PraxisOfEvil The combination of wages and future opportunities seems unrealistically low, unfortunately. With the price of rent, all low-wage labor is basically slave labor, and not even worth the investment of moving out, and sadly no one can wait five years for a $5 or 10% raise anymore, that’s not going to cut it. We need big opportunities now, and that’s rarely on tap.
Young White guys are getting priced out of the labor force because they can’t afford anything except to stay with their parents. Businesses need to start offering big salaries up front and training like their employees will work there for the next 20 years. And drop degree and diversity requirements. Basically overhaul the system, but that won’t happen until the system collapses. Which it will. Everyone can feel the economy sagging under its own weight.
