Had a good calc teacher who was a retired civil engineer and would relate calc to his old work sometimes and to physics, which really helped for calc and physics. For example, the floors and walls of a building are modeled as a series of springs. When the wind blows on the wall, it bends, then bends back. When you step on a floor, it sags, then rises back. I’m sure this is very rough but it’s how he explained it. Yes he was an old White guy. Students are really fugged if they lose access to those kinds of people. Education majors don’t replicate that kind of thinking by themselves.
