   Even affluent people are just a few months away from losing their financial security and home if they lose their job today. It puts things into perspective when you realise this as most people don't live like a poor person when they become affluent as they need to keep a good appearance for connections and more wealth.

     @sim if you are a few months away from losing your security, i don't think that can be called affluent. do you mean people who buy everything on credit?

     @sim those aren't wealthy people in any way, though, most of those writers have rather average salaries.

     @lain It's probably what happens when you live in an expensive city to be honest. I wish I remembered the article/video that I got this from now.
     
     Also, just think about how many people in hollywood were struggling due to the strikes.
