@thatguyoverthere Yeah, living nowhere is great for dogs. I have space, but still have to resort to 30 meter training ropes to avoid repeat offending. ;]
E-famous sheep dog from NZ or something.

@white_male I live watching how well they can control the herd. I had a friend who had an old girl that was almost entirely blind and she could still do her job shepherding one goat at a time to the stanchion for milking.

@thatguyoverthere Most impressive dogs i've seen are hunting dogs, great discipline. Not living the life with need for a working dog, so tail wag and some teeth marks does it for me.

@white_male I have a Pyrenees with my birds but she is just a guard so her work is just watch for baddies. Not a ton of training required beyond making sure she won't eat the birds.
My hay lady has a blue heeler that is so well behaved she can bring her here with all my animals and she stays right where she's supposed to. I think some breeds would be bored if they didn't have a purpose.

@thatguyoverthere Definitely and don't get a dog with a purpose if you can't fulfill it's needs. I've spent most of my life around large fluffers, perfectly content with snoozing when not in the center of attention. Getting them to respectable level of training, in lieu of dog work, was great.

@white_male yeah if they don't have work I imagine they need a way to spend that energy and still feel useful.

@thatguyoverthere Escorted mine to a pond. He's more of a swimmer, since doesn't know real snow. But for all his love of swimming, can't figure out that keeping ass up is the most energy efficient way to do it. ;]
