Very nice.
It made me keenly aware of Japan's own issues though, and how much is hidden from other countries in the image they project. It's actually no different than how many non-Americans still think the USA is all freedom and hamburgers and Ronald Reagan, or how Paris is still the jewel of civilization to many Japanese. I dated a Girl's Bar waitress for a while, who owns her own club now. The things she'd tell me about the sex industry and how everything worked and how she recruits girls and clients probably effected my political positions more than Trump did.
If given the choice I'd live in Japan over USA, no contest, but I won't pretend it's perfect.

It's a lot more stable, and it's problems haven't come around to bite it in the ass. Yet.
You absolutely cannot escape the prostitution issue though. If you've ever walked around Tokyo at night, you've probably heard the infectious "Vanilla" theme song being blasted by this bus with flashing lights. Most foreigners have absolutely no idea what it is and will laugh and then never think about it again. What Vanilla is, is a jobs board for prostitutes. It drives around every single day in multiple cities presenting the industry as totally legitimate and normal and encouraging young women to sign up who might have never considered it otherwise, effectively removing a certain percentage from the pool of potential mothers. Prostitution is technically illegal, mind you. The truck recruits for illegal activity and yet police see nothing wrong with this. As of this writing, Vanilla currently has 10,458 job postings on their website. This a medium sized prostitution job board. The largest, City Heaven, currently has 8,291 brothels listed with 458,250 prostitutes currently in circulation.
The feelings I have towards this fucking bus are indescribable.
