In the city I live there is a "bike rental system" done by a company with support of the town hall, there are a bunch of rental spots scattered through the city, you download an app and you use it to unlock the bike, and then you can deposit it again in any other spot. You can pay for each ride, or you can make a subscription, daily, monthly, yearly, whatever.
It's very convenient because you can just put the bike anywhere there is a "rental spot", not worrying about it being stolen or shit like that, and it ends up being cheaper than buying your own bike + maintenance, so our version of "doordash" delivery guys usually deliver using bikes, and they use these rental bikes.
One caveat this system has, though, is that to avoid dipshits hoarding the fucking bikes the entire day, you have a time limit for each time you use the bike, around one hour, then you need to deposit the bike at a spot and wait a few minutes before you're able to unlock another one.
So, most often than not, you call for some food when you are hungry, you get pretty happy because it's going to be delivered soon, and then when you look at the map and the GPS thing showing you were your delivery guy is, you notice he's been 10+ minutes stopped in the middle of nowhere, because they are waiting to be able to unlock the fucking bike, and then he shows up at your door half an hour after he picked the food bag from the place, and deliver to you a soggy bag full of cold food, with a smile on their face.
I don't tip those guys.

@Suzu Imagine being such a cheap ass that you rely on these rental scooters (which are often poorly maintained) instead of owning your own scooter/moped when you're doing deliveries for a living. :reimu_sigh:
-
@Suzu Its only more convenient if you incidentally need those scooters. If you need one on a daily basis its much better to own one yourself.
-
@Tamamo well, to be fair, usually when a guy has to do deliveries, it's because he has no money at all, so I can kinda understand why they do it. As I said, it's cheaper and more convenient than owning your own.
I understand, but I don't condone. So I don't tip.

@galena @Suzu Holy shit that system sounds retarded as fuck.

@Suzu >I don't tip those guys.
You're lucky. Most delivery services here require you to tip while placing the order, before they've even chosen a delivery person, so the delivery people know exactly how much they'll be tipped before accepting the order. Low tips lead to them not accepting the order at all, and since you tip before you order, they have no incentive to actually perform a good service. In fact, they sometimes won't bother delivering your food at all, that way they get free food and can keep the tip.

@galena around here you can tip while placing the order, but it only works for some payment methods. And regardless if you tipped beforehand or not, the system will always do a follow up asking you to rate the delivery guy and leave an extra tip, so what I tend to do is tip nothing beforehand and only do it after the delivery was done.
