     FWIW the newswire sent out yet ANOTHER directive on the brand new boeing 777’s engines, poor metallurgy in the first 2 stages. If they fail, things will explode and even breach the engine pod

     Pratt & whitney had something similar a few months back. Oh, and at the end of last year continental had a bunch of cirrus engines they’d put together, test flown, and certified without installing the tappets/springs/valves right, turning them into grenades that would run for abt 250 hours

     And I think there was a thing last week where 737’s off the line had poorly made fuselage components from a subcontractor to spirit aerosystems, the holes were stretching out and the pressure vessel might not last forever.

     They’ve had a rough time moving to composites overall. I don’t know if we can keep it up. Steel/aluminum can just be cut, stamped, riveted into position. But glues, composites, molds all take a whole lot of special attention and effort

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @DW2 this is piss earth, we can't use good reliable materials like steel and aluminum. some gay retarded hippie has read some marketing materials from a company about their fancy new composite or carbon fiber or whatever boasting incredible gains of being 8% more energy efficient, then demanded regulations for whatever product or industry. then joe brandon gets on TV and announces how it will save consumers three whole dollars over the life of the product.
     the thing has become shittier, costs more, breaks more, and can't be repaired, and nobody's selling the old ones anymore.

     Most of this stuff is just them chasing the slimmest returns to keep cutting the used market off. As long as each successive iteration of the 737 and A320 sports a 3% increase in fuel economy and a 20% noise/emissions cut, ops are assured for that much further in the future.

     Right now the big looming terror is that euro govs shut us all down, they’ve already committed to silly stuff like “net zero carbon emissions by 2050” on our biz side, I have nervous bizops heads asking me if they’ll be able to even fly private to the eu in 20 years if they don’t have a modern, 2023 gulfstream
