   Why did Russia make the AK-12 which is just a shittier AK instead of keeping their AK-103 / AK-105 and just mass producing zenico machined gas tube rails and dust covers. Accomplishes the same exact goals (but better) and they can keep the cross platform compatibility which was the whole point of the AK 100 series to begin with

     Sig is 9.8 lbs
     
     And the Scar-H shoots 7.62 x 51

     The hybrid steel-brass case is kind of a logistics pinch point however
     Also the extreme pressure is going to decimate barrels a lot quicker when you factor in how often they get shot in training and FTX
