     The short run of it is that Jesus proclaimed himself to be God incarnate in human flesh, and actively went out of His way to hold the Jewish hierarchs of His day to task for their corruption and perversion of the faith, as well as their hypocrisy.
     
     They saw Him as an active threat to their continued position of power and influence over the Jewish community, and more than that, they hated that His endgame was to bring the gentiles to repentance to worship the True God.
     
     The Jews wanted a messiah that was a political conqueror that would subordinate the gentiles to the Jews as a slave caste. Yet the very Psalms [liturgical hymns which they sang in the synagogues] testified against their retarded take, and furthermore, foreshadowed Christ.
